Welcome to Rachael’s Rules, your Do’s and Don’ts of dating 101.

These are the basic do's guys, so study up!

Do book ahead

Treat a woman’s time like a five star restaurant, call her in advance to make plans.

Do your homework

Planning something special? Study up on her tastes to impress with thoughtfulness.

Do be positive

Nobody wants to spend an evening with you and your problems, she’s your date not your therapist. Keep it on the upswing.

Do be a doorman

Opening the door may seem old fashion, but it doesn’t make it out of fashion.

Do be yourself

Everyone wants to make a good impression, but you won’t win an academy award on a date for acting like someone you’re not. Be yourself.

Do read the signs

Women give off pretty clear body signals. Is she smiling and laughing? Proceed ahead.

Do make the call

Want to ask her out? Don’t worry about this wait 3 days baloney, just make the call…now.

Do be complimentary

Thoughtful compliments are always welcome, but the sincerest ones are even better.

Do play games

Does she share your passion for ping-pong; is she barmy for bowling? Share a causal and fun date and let the games begin.

Do start small

Just getting to know each other? Meeting for a coffee or just going for a walk together can be a small step in the right direction.

Do get things cookin’

The maxim “the best way to a man’s heart is through his stomach,” doesn’t just apply to men. Preparing a meal for your date can be a very intimate and appetizing activity for you both.

Do just ask

Telepathy should not be required to know what she wants. Take out the guess work and just ask her.

Do set the mood

Adding a little romance with soft music and candle light might seem corny, but a little effort with ambiance can go long way.

Do follow-up

If know you want to see her again, ask her at the end of your date or soon after. If she’s really interested, your persistence will pay off.

Do bust a move

If your date wants to dance (even with your two left feet) go for it. She’ll appreciate your willingness to have fun. Just watch out for her toes.

Do add to favorites

Just like you would on your computer, keep a list of her favorites. Bringing her flowers is great, but bringing her favorite flowers knocks it out of the park.

Do be nice

It’s never acceptable for anyone to be a mean on a date. Just be nice, if you can’t, then just be alone.

Do keep a calendar

Does she have a big birthday coming up? Put it in your phone, computer, Ipad…whatever. Don’t miss it!!!

Do what you say

Did you say you would call? Then do it! Consistency breeds caring and trust.

Do be hands on

Did she have a long day? Nothing is better than a massage from her man.
